There is a major power outage in the Auckland and Northland area resulting in the failure of traffic lights. Police are asking drivers to take additional care when going through intersections affected by the power outage.
UPDATE @ 10:18am: Information has been received that Transpower are progressing the restoration of power across Auckland and Northland. This process is on-going. Numerous calls are still being received at the NZ Police Northern Communications Centre.
UPDATE @ 10:48am: Power has now been restored to Auckland & Northland.
